Gurgaon private schools told to post students’ profiles on education portal

The education board of Gurgaon has incorporated some new protocols in regard to the school listings on their official educational site.

The govt. of Haryana has a successful educational portal that goes by the name of the Management Information System (MIS). This site consists of all details related to schools in the state; their administration, database and strength- all form an important part of this website. All the top schools in Gurgaon are also a part of this great initiative of the government.

Now, as a new ruling, the District Education Officer has announced it mandatory for all the public schools of Gurgaon, and that includes all the top schools in Gurgaon-even the best school in Gurgaon, to include each of their students’ profile on the portal. The profile also needs to clarify the date when a particular student got enrolled in the school. The government has also asked the schools to link these student profiles with their correct Aadhaar numbers. The Aadhaar linking has been made compulsory as the students are not eligible for any other valid identification documents.

This new ruling is an effort to keep the double admissions in check. The DEO had earlier noticed some parents getting their children admitted to both the CBSE and Haryana State board schools in order to avail certain benefits. It will help the government to put together a database of all the students in Gurgaon.

Commenting on this new endeavor the DEO Neelam Bhandari mentioned that the schools have already been asked to contact the administration if they want to hold any Aadhaar enrolment camps for the students. “We already have collated the data of 1,12,703 students of government schools and the profiles were linked with their Aadhaar numbers before being put up on the portal. However, the private schools are yet to send us the profiles of their statements,” the DEO stated.

Almost all the top schools in Gurgaon are run by private authorities, including the best school in Gurgaon. These schools have lauded this initiative by the DEO and also expressed their positive stance regarding this decision. Most of them have mentioned that they have started furnishing out their students’ data to be uploaded on the website. Many of their students are already ready with their Aadhaar cards and started providing all its details to their schools.

Dhriti Malhotra, principal of Manav Rachna School, also agreed on already having started the uploading process from their senior-most students. They have also sent out notices to the parents to let them know of this new development and have urged them to get their wards’ Aadhaar cards developed.

Speaking about the same, Rakhi Verma, the principal of the Ryan International School, said that their school has already uploaded the details of their senior students. The school also held an Aadhaar enrolment camp recently to aid all the other students who did not have their Aadhaar cards ready at hand.

Picky Parent Guide: Choose Your Child's School

The school that a child goes to not only shapes their entire childhood, but it also immensely affects the overall growth and development of the child. The school that you choose for your child will impact their social interactions, emotional wellbeing, and academic learning as well. As a parent, it is undoubtedly a top priority to choose the best school in Noida for your child.

With the increasing number of pre-schools, primary schools, and secondary schools, it can get a little difficult for you as a parent, to choose the right school for your child. There are many factors you need to consider before you choose a school for your child. In this article, we will discuss those factors.

1. Proximity

It is always wise to start looking for schools that are nearest to your place of residence. Choosing a school that is considerably closer to where you live is a smart decision keeping in mind the safety of your child.

It is also advisable to look at the safest transportation options, and this goes together with keeping in mind the proximity of the school, to ensure that your child is safe while travelling to and from the school.

As a parent, you should also ensure that your child is comfortable while travelling as well. A long journey from home to school and back may not suit a lot of children.

2. Fees

Most parents enrol their student in the most expensive private and international schools, assuming that they are the best school for their child because of their reputation. This is a common misconception amongst most Indian parents.

Some schools have a much affordable fee structure as opposed to the expensive private schools, and still provide a comparable or even better quality of education. Instead of sending your child to the most expensive school in your town, focus on choosing a school that is value for your money in terms of curriculum, extra-curricular activities, safety and facilities.

3. Academic and extra-curricular activities

As a parent, it should be your priority to ensure that your child receives a quality education in terms of both academic learnings as well as extra-curricular activities. While choosing a school, make sure that the school meets the highest standards of excellence in terms of their teachers, methodology of teaching, academic curriculum and moral values taught.

Extra-curricular activities like sports, music, art & craft, drama, play a huge role in shaping a child’s overall personality. While choosing a school, make sure that your child will have enough options to explore their hobbies and cultivate new skills.

4. Teacher to Student Ratio

Would you rather have your child go to a school with 50 students in a class or one with 25 students in a class?

Obviously, you would choose a school which has a lesser number of students in a class so that your child can get more attention from the teacher and perform better. This is what the teacher to student ratio is about.

Having one teacher take care of a class with a lesser number of students will be extremely beneficial for your child. Research has proven that students tend to learn better in smaller classes.

5. Curriculum

Schools tend to follow different curriculums based on the educational boards they are affiliated with. Most Indian schools follow these boards:

  • SSC – Secondary School Certificate
  • ICSE – Indian Certificate of Secondary Education
  • CBSE – Central Board of Secondary Education
  • IB – International Baccalaureate program
  • CIE – Cambridge International Examinations

( followed by International Schools)

Depending on the board of the school, the curriculum changes. You should choose a school best suited for your child in terms of its curriculum as well, perhaps after some advice from a counsellor.
